Benjamin Gitterman, MD

Dr. Benjamin Gitterman is a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at George Washington University and Children’s National Medical Center. A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), he has been serving the families of Discovery Pediatrics since 2000.

With deep expertise in pediatric primary care and community pediatrics, Dr. Gitterman has held several leadership positions, including Chair of the Department of Pediatrics at Holy Cross Hospital and Chair of the AAP’s National Council on Community Pediatrics. He is also a leader in the field of pediatric environmental health, having founded and co-directed the Pediatric Environmental Health Specialty Unit (PEHSU), a federally funded regional center.

Dr. Gitterman has received multiple accolades throughout his career, including the Residency Teaching Award from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, and has been recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Washingtonian magazine.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his dog, Telly.
